Pioneer Valley Roller Derby News!

Howdy Roller Derby Fans! As some of you know Pioneer Valley Roller Derby took a break over the holidays. After months of hard work and enthusiasm, we are back in action! CT Mixer: March 16th This Sunday, the Dirty Dozen will join the CT Death Quad for the men’s derby debut in Waterbury, CT. This pre-bout expo features mixed teams from East Coast men’s leagues. Members of the New York Shock Exchange and Baltimore’s Harm City Homicide join us to inaugurate this historic event. This scrimmage will take place around 5:30pm - immediately preceding the main attraction: CT Roller Girls’ Stepford Sabotage vs. Providence Roller Derby’s Rhone Island Riveters. For tickets and more information: Home Bout: April 19th Next month, Pioneer Valley Roller Derby host Diamond City in our third bout here in the valley! PVRD’s women: Western Mass Destruction will face off against Diamond City’s Scream Queens, while our men: the Dirty Dozen lock wheels against the Death Kings. This match-up of brains, beauty and brawn include alternating periods of women and men’s derby action. We’ve also been active on the local New England Roller Derby circuit: Boston and Providence Scrimmages: On Sunday, February 24th, Western Mass Destruction traveled out to Providence to scrimmage against the Rhode Island Riveters. The following week, we traveled out to Boston to meet up with our sister league from the Bay State. Some of our ladies joined the Boston Derby Dames B-team in a scrimmage against their all star travel team: the Boston Massacre. Both scrimmages were a blast. Our ladies learned some new tricks from these seasoned veteran teams! Open recruiting: Do you love roller derby? Are you a man or a woman? Does the thought of you zooming around at top speeds, with wheels strapped to your feet excite you? Then come join PVRD! We are seeking new players and new refs, who have enthusiasm for the game and the drive to work hard and help us grow as a league. You bring the passion – we’ll teach you how to skate.
