Traveling from Spirit Gallery Canterbury, CT Email Blaze Schwaller
I work on both skin and paper, and occasionally canvas. My work continues to evolve with every passing tattoo, drawing, or painting. My preferred mediums are tattooing, watercolor painting, and graphite drawings. I find that the looseness of painting helps me to think in broader patterns when I tattoo, and tattooing helps me to focus on design and detail in my paintings.
When working on skin, I pay special attention to placement and the natural movement and flow of the body. This helps determine the size and amount of detail that can be put into a tattoo. I am learning to push values in my tattoos and to commit to either using no line at all, or to use line in a bold and decisive manner. As always, color fascinates me, and I love creating bold, colorful tattoos that compliment the wearer's personality and interests.
Together with my husband, Derek, I am opening Spirit Gallery, in Canterbury, CT, in May 2007. It combines a fine art gallery and artist studios as well as tattoo studio. I will link to the new shop's website as soon as we launch! | |
